Skill Stars (1-5)

Staff are hired at 1-3 stars. Each star improves their performance:

Training costs $600 per course (+1 star, +8 morale). Mentors learn for half ($300). Maximum 5 stars.

Salary scales: base × (1 + 0.06 × (skill - 1)) × (1 + 0.08 × raises).

The Coworkies.com Job Board

Instead of blind hires, you browse 3 candidates per role on the job board. Candidates refresh every 4 days. Each shows their name, skill stars, asking salary, and personality trait. You can wait for a better batch or hire immediately.

Staff Morale (0-100)

Morale drifts based on workload:

Below 35 morale, a warning fires. Below 22, staff have a 3% daily chance to quit (except Rock Steady trait). Grumpy staff (<35 morale, except Ray of Sunshine) cause -3 satisfaction each.

Raises

Give a permanent +8% salary raise for an instant +18 morale boost. Use when morale dips toward the danger zone.

Staff Personality Traits

~65% of hires come with a personality trait that changes how they work:

Ray of SunshineMood drifts up +0.5/day on its own. Never counts as grumpy around members (exempt from the -3 penalty).
HustlerWorks as if 1 star higher, but burns out 30% faster (morale loss ×1.3).
Rock SteadyMorale never drops below 40. They never quit.
Night OwlNo night-shift premium. Gains +0.6 morale/day on the night shift.
MentorTraining costs half ($300 instead of $600).
Diva+2 effective stars when morale ≥80. -1 star when morale <50. Brilliant when happy, awful when not.

Night Shifts

In scenarios with nightlife, you can assign staff to the night shift. Night shift workers are on duty when it's dark and go home during the day.

Industry Training Events

Send staff to off-site events for skill boosts and major morale recovery. They're away (off coverage) for the event duration.
